Sustainability

Our Values

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do at our salon in Kings Langley and one of our key core values. It is important to us that Dolly’s contributes to help preserving, protecting and save our planet.

We use shampoos and conditioners that have been formulated without any cruelty to animals and have a sulphate free range. Our nail gels are vegan and hemp free.

We recycle cut hair and work with The Green Salon Collective. This hair is used for compost to plant new trees. The hair can also be made into hair booms which are used in the ocean to soak up oil spillages. These booms can be used up to 100 times. We also recycle the foils and colour tubes after our colour treatments, preventing them from ending up in landfill. We also recycle our lunch foil and drink cans used by staff.

We work with another charity to donate virgin hair over seven inches long that is clean and natural. This goes to The Little Princess Trust, assisting children and young people affected by hair loss and cancer.

Eco Friendly

On an eco level, we air dry our washed towels on a daily basis to avoid tumble drying and cost.  We also swap the traditional disposable magazines full of celebrity gossip and have a good range of well-being and positive books to relax our clients before and during their appointments.

Our salon is also decorated with fresh live plants to encourage a healthy environment. Our commitment to zero landfill was recognised by us winning the Kings Langley Parish Council ‘Environmental Initiative Award 2023’.

We also seek to educate our clients and illustrate our commitment to sustainability. We have a TV screen in reception to demonstrate how many plastic bottles are being pulled out of the ocean on a daily basis. These bottles are recycled from eight into one that we sell in the salon. We use this as a talking topic to educate children in our salon as well as parents.
